Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has dissolved the entire State Executive Council, directing all commissioners to hand over their ministries to Permanent Secretaries no later than April 10, 2026.
The directive was announced on Wednesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, following an extraordinary cabinet meeting held to review the administration’s performance midway into Yahaya’s second term.
According to Njodi, the dissolution became necessary due to shifting political developments as Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections.
The move is expected to allow commissioners and other political appointees seeking elective positions to participate freely in the political process.
