At least 20 passengers, including candidates traveling to sit for Nigeria’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), were reportedly abducted by suspected sea pirates along the Calabar waterways in southern Nigeria.
According to reports, the gunmen ambushed a passenger ferry traveling from Calabar to Oron and forced passengers away at gunpoint.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact number of victims, but several were said to be students heading for their exams.
