Nigeria’s governing All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed its presidential primary election to May 23, 2026, in a move that could reshape the early battle for power ahead of the country’s 2027 general elections.
The party also announced a dual-mode candidate selection system, allowing aspirants to emerge through either direct primaries or consensus, depending on internal agreements.
However, if any contender rejects consensus, the process will automatically switch to direct voting by party members.
